About Keto Sass
Being healthy doesn't have to be boring. Add a little sass.
I lost weight after my 2nd child was born by working out (Turbo Jam anyone?!) and watching my calories.
Unfortunately, I thought less was more when it came to food and that the more workouts I could fit into a day the better. Zumba. Walking. More Turbo. A little bit of Insanity.
I started gaining even though I was busting my sass.
Then my husband had a heart attack at 42. Add in some stress.
Then one of my students who was like an adopted son was killed in a car accident.
Add more stress. I started gaining like crazy. 30 lbs in less than 3 months.
I went to 3 different doctors and they just told me it was my age (I was only 37).
When I found a naturopath who would actually listen to me, she said my adrenals were shot. My hormones were completely out of whack.
She did a little more testing and found food intolerances and Hashimoto's (an autoimmune disease).
Cue the Keto Lifestyle
I had tried Paleo/Primal before I started gaining weight at a rapid pace and liked it.
After doing a lot of reading and research about Hashimoto's I started looking at ways to balance my gut bacteria (leaky gut), balance my hormones, and avoid the foods on my "NO" list.
The Keto Lifestyle helps me to avoid most of the foods that are harmful to someone with an autoimmune disease (sugar, grains, simple carbs).
Dairy is the hardest. I try, but it's not always possible.
I worked on healing my gut biome for a few years and balancing my hormones for a few years before finding Keto.
I've lost 15 lbs (with more to go) and have reduced inflammation, fewer headaches, and way more energy. Without coffee!! Yes. I quit caffeine and I feel 10x's better!
This website is a compilation of all the things I have learned, the methods I follow, and hopefully some extra motivation for you to give Keto a try as well.
